Skip to content Stamford is widely regarded as one of the finest stone towns in England. Stamfords narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards are home to a variety of speciality shops, fine jewellers and designer boutiques, whilst the high street has a great choice of independent recognised retailers. In the afternoon we head to Barnsdale Gardens created by Geoff Hamilton for BBC Gardeners World with 38 individual gardens in an eight acre site, all built on peat-free organic principles. Each one offers practical concepts that you can use at home as well as botanically labelled plants; ideal for making notes of the ones you really like before visiting the nursery to make direct purchases. Price includes entrance.
