Paignton

Paignton is an ideal destination for a delightful Devonshire holiday. Home to long sandy beaches, a regal promenade and a vibrant seafront. Paignton is one of the highlights of this beautiful area known as ‘The English Riviera’.

 

Day 1 We travel to our hotel.

 

Day 2 After breakfast this morning, we board the Dartmouth Steam Railway in Paignton, for our 30 minute steam train journey to Kingswear. The views of the coastline and the picturesque Devonshire countryside from our seats on this nostalgic heritage train are breath-taking. When we reach Kingswear, we cross the River Dart to Dartmouth on a foot ferry. We have free time to explore and enjoy lunch before we re-trace our steps back to our hotel.

 

Day 3 Today we visit Dawlish and Teignmouth. The picturesque Victorian town of Dawlish has decorative flower beds and the Dawlish brook that runs through the town is home to the famous black swans. Teignmouth is an historic port on the mouth of the Teign estuary. It has all the attractions of a seaside town, including a Victorian pier, a shopping area and interesting old back streets.

 

Day 4 Today we enjoy a half day visit in the pretty village of Brixham. Life in the busy fishing town has always been centred around its pretty harbour, where yachts and heritage trawlers jostle for space. There is plenty to see and do here with the town’s many fish restaurants dotted around the harbour, cosy cafes and quaint old inns to help you soak up the atmosphere.

 

Day 5 Homeward bound.
