Day 1 We travel to our hotel.
Day 2 This morning we head to the charming village of Grasmere to visit Wordsworths Grasmere including Dove Cottage, the home of poet William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808, and the Wordsworth Museum. The centre has recently undergone a 6 million pound renovation making it a must-see even for repeat visitors. Our tour continues with a scenic drive along beautiful Coniston Water, the inspiration for the Arthur Ransome novel Swallows and Amazons. We take a steam train ride on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway to the southern tip of Lake Windermere before taking a cruise up the lake to Bowness. There is free time to explore this popular lakeside town or perhaps visit The World of Beatrix Potter attraction (local charges may apply which are not included).
Day 3 Today we join the Mountain Goat for an adventure deep into the scenic Borrowdale Valley. From here, youll journey through the villages of Rosthwaite and Seatoller, before ascending the dramatic Honister Pass. We will stop at Honister Slate Mine for a guided tour. There is a café for refreshments and a souvenir shops to buy a gift after your visit. The minibuses will then drive us to Derwentwater Lake for a cruise on the water. See the beautiful mountains from your cruiser, including the famous Cat Bells, an iconic mountain overlooking Keswick and the Lake. We will then make our way back to the coach and return to our hotel.
Day 4 A morning visit to the historic market town of Kendal, famous for its narrow lanes, ancient yards and Kendal Mint Cake. In the afternoon, we visit the National Trusts Sizergh Castle. Home to the Strickland family for more than 750 years, the castle is set in acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and furnished with fine English and French furniture and family portraits.
